Why I decided to leave Flippa.com
Two weeks ago I tended my resignation as the Marketing Manager at Flippa.com. The above map will explain the the main reason for my departure, the other being the 9lb one I leave at home when I make the journey. Almost 3 hours commuting everyday with a new borne bouncing baby girl at home has starting to get the better of me. I realized the 12 to 13 hours away from home everyday and the constant tiredness wasn’t doing me or my family any favors.
In the 8 months I’ve been at Flippa I’ve learnt a great deal, hopefully made some contributions to the business and people in the marketplace, and met and worked with really cool people. I will miss the 99FlipPoint family and the happy creative working environment they’ve created.
I’m also looking forward to the challenges ahead – once again stepping in to the world of small business having purchased an online business (no it wasn’t via Flippa and it’s .com.au). I’ll also be spending more time on Small Business Big Marketing as well as some consulting – all in all a busy schedule ahead but most of it will be done from home.
Thanks to everyone who’s helped me in my roll as Marketing Manager at Flippa.com – both internally and externally – it’s been awesome.

Luke:
Wow! I didn’t see this coming. I didn’t realize you were with Flippa for only 8 months. I thought you were with them much longer than that. At any rate, it was a pleasure having the opportunity to “talk to you” via various blogs, forums, and emails. I don’t blame you for leaving given those conditions! 3 hour commute and 12-13 hours away from home??? That’s crazy. Best of luck to you with your new endeavors!
Travis
P.S. I hope you don’t mind, but as an active blogger in the website flipping space, I had to blog about your departure. I snagged your picture too for the blog. I hope that’s o.k. If it isn’t, let me know:)
Luke, sorry to see you go but given the strain of your long commute and the call of your little girl, I can understand it completely.
You actively reached out to Flippa users and took on board their feedback and searched for workable solutions.
Thank you for being so approachable, and thank you for the support you’ve given me.
Wishing you lots of good luck for the future.
Michelle
I guess from the outside, I can’t understand why Flippa could not have offered ‘remote’ opportunities?
Good Luck with your new ventures!
Lukey,
Best of luck mate – whatever the new venture you destined to be a success dude.
… and if wasn’t for Flippa we’d have never meet, and what would your life be without that
Pete
p.s. This is the first thing I’ve really type on the new iPad!!

It’s the best thing you’ve ever done, mate!
All the best for what I’m sure will be a very successful future.

A 3 hour commute every day is tough. Like Heather, I find it strange that Flippa didn’t allow you to work remotely.
You’re better off without ‘em! Good luck, Luke, and all the best.
Thanks guys. The best part of the job has been interacting with the community and making new friends (and sparing partners!). You’ve taught me heaps.
BTW, Flippa did allow me to work from home once a week and were very flexible, but for Flippa to grow, it needs a marketing manager to build a team. IMO you can’t grow a motivated and effective team remotely.
You became synonymous with the Flippa brand, when I think of Flippa I think of Luke Moulton. In other words, you did a great job at marketing, mate.
Let’s see what bloke takes your place, they have BIG shoes to fill.
Cheers!
Good luck for the future Luke. I’m sure you’ll be successful in whatever you move onto.
All the best,
Robert (GuruBob)
Good luck Luke. Loved the way you took the bull by the horns and moved Flippa forward and it is a great reason for leaving, the most important in fact
